Night with a New Baby
For many people who have new babies the thought of bringing the baby home for the first night is incredibly exciting. However, for inexperience parents that night can be rather brutal if you are not prepared. The best thing to do is try to get as much asleep beforehand as possible so that you can be sure you are awake enough for the child. The reason for this is that when you take care of a new baby the first night, the baby may need to be changed and fed multiple times, as well as taken care of after eating.
Having both of the parents at home the first night is also a wonderful thing to do because it helps them bond with the new born child. The baby may sometimes cry quite a bit the first night because it is in new surrounding, and scared, but this does not necessarily mean that anything is terribly
wrong. The baby just needs to be proper covered up so it does not get cold, and the crib should be free of anything the child could harm itself on. Never leave the baby unattended if a blanket is in the sheet, as this could result in harm or entanglement.
All in all, the first night with your new baby will be remarkable. You will realize that the baby can recognize the voices of the mother and father, and that it will quickly adapt to the surrounding areas. A great thing to do is set up a spot in your own bedroom for the baby. This is far better then putting the baby in a separate room.
